Travel Tales From Beyond The Brochure

Nov 25, 2021

Hello!

On this episode I talk a little about aspects of environmentalism, including direct action, clean water, plastic bottles, cliff erosion, and the UK rail network. While writing the script I realised there were a whole myriad of related subjects like palm oil, deforestation, agriculture, motoring, sustainable travel, and lifestyle changes that would better be served being in their own podcast. Think of this pod therefore as being 'Part One' - Part Two will be episode 51, in three episodes time.

Topics discussed include:
* Why this pod is three weeks late
* How to dress for an awards ceremony when you're a cynical hippie
* Why is pod isn't about London
* Climate Activism and Direct Protest
* Clean water around the world is less common than you think
* Water in plastic bottles and plastic sachets
* It all feels that something's not qu(wh)ite right
* Recycling in the UK
* Cliff erosion on the Norfolk Coast Path
* Short flights are sometimes necessary, and sometimes not
* This should be the age of the train ...
* ... but not every train is a good train

There is one contribution in this episode; several clips from an interview-type chat I had with Amanda Kendle, of the Thoughtful Travel Podcast.

A PDF transcript of this episode is available.

As always, if you have anything to say about the topic, or indeed about my podcasting in general, leave a comment or let me know. The pod has a Facebook group you can join, too.

I also have a Patreon - if you like what you hear, and want to access exclusive content (or just to show your appreciation), then head on over.

Until next time, bye for now. :)
